NRC: ASTM C 423. Thermal resistance: ASTM C 518. These values apply to K-13 on solid backing.

Metric thicknesses are rounded conversions. R-value is in h·ft²·°F/Btu, not SI m²·K/W. Laboratory NRC values can exceed 1.00; this is not a percentage of sound removed from a room. Field performance also depends on coverage, geometry and other surfaces.

DESIGN QUESTIONS
Details that matter before specification.
Is sound absorption the same as sound isolation?
No. NRC describes absorption in the tested configuration. Sound isolation depends on the complete wall, floor or roof assembly and requires the relevant transmission-loss evidence.
Does a Class A surface-burning rating mean a fire-resistance period?
No. ASTM E 84 surface-burning performance does not establish a fire-resistance period for a structural assembly. Confirm the required assembly and local approval route.
Can K-13 replace a separate ceiling finish?
Where the intended texture and detailing suit the design, K-13 can remain exposed. Compare complete assemblies to assess the value of combining absorption, insulation and finish.
What needs checking on a metal roof?
Review the actual deck geometry, coating, movement, substrate preparation, attachment strategy and roof manufacturer’s requirements. Test data for one metal deck must not be transferred uncritically to another roof system.
How should colour and texture be selected?
Choose from standard or custom colours, then approve physical samples and a representative mock-up. The finish has a natural fibrous texture; screen colours are indicative.
